Investigation of Ananplastic Malignancy 
of the Thyroid

When anaplastic carcinomas are suspected, it is customary to carry out a needle biopsy for histological confirmation, followed by initiation of a course of radiotherapy to the neck, even in the presence of known metastases. Untreated anaplastic carcinomas infiltrate the trachea and may ulcerate through the skin.
